Meet the team at the Cab Loading who work with loading ready-to-deliver cabs.
In long rows, lots of cabs in different colours and models are arranged – ready for delivery to Scania's Chassi Assembly in Södertälje, Zwolle and Angers. The team that handles the loading of Scania Oskarshamn cabs ready for delivery are mostly forklift drivers.
- We work 2 shifts and are 20 employees, of which 16 are forklift drivers, says Morgan Hultqvist, group manager for the Cab Loading.
Morgan is new to the department, but has previously held managerial positions in other companies and worked as a forklift driver at Scania Oskarshamn for two years.
- It's inspiring to take on new challenges and be able to develop within the company, he says.
Loading on trucks
In a constant flow, the forklift drivers pick up ready-to-deliver cabs from the Assembly. There is a lot of truck traffic on the loading and trucks are ready to pick up ready-to-deliver cabs.
- We handle a large number of cabs on a daily basis, says Morgan.
- We place finished cabs under a roof in marked rows that show whether they should be sent to Södertälje, Zwolle in the Netherlands or Angers in France, says Jasna Merdanovic, forklift driver and deputy teamleader.
Challenge to drive large cabs
Therese Johansson is teamleader and emphasizes the group.
- We help each other and are a good group. I appreciate my work, it's fun and a nice feeling when we send end products from Oskarshamn, says Therese.
Peter Glans started his Scania journey as a forklift driver at Logistics in Södertälje in 2010, but moved to Oskarshamn in 2016. He enjoys working at the Cab Loading, but the work has its challenges.
- Since the forklift trucks lack suspension, it can sometimes be a bit bumpy, it requires concentration to drive large, heavy cabs, says Peter.
Many at the department have extensive experience, while others are new to the team. Esperanza Fidelius was hired during 2022 and places ready-to-deliver cabs with a skilled hand.
- You gradually build up a sense of security for how to drive and set up the cabs, she concludes.
