Crewcab specifications
Fit for purpose
Smart power
Scania is taking major steps in providing customer-adapted trucks for even better total operating economy. The Scania CrewCab can be ordered with a 7-litre, 9-litre or 13-litre engine, making it possible for a range of gearboxes to be specified, including Scania Opticruise (automated manual) or automatic (torque converter) transmissions.
This generation of Scania CrewCab builds on the heritage from the former CrewCab but is even more fit for its purpose - with easy access to the crew area, improved comfort and flexible seating options.
7-litre
The DC07 is the lightest engine in the Scania range (approx. 360 kg lighter than the 9-litre engines). It is a straight 6-cylinder diesel engine equipped with a Bosch injection system, 4 valves per cylinder, a fixed geometry turbo, and Scania's SCR-system.
These engines can run on HVO without any modifications being required.
The exhaust brake is rated to 127 kW @ 2,500 rpm.
With power outputs of 220-280 hp, and torque outputs of 1,000-1,200 Nm, it is best suited to light-duty (under 26t GTW) urban operations.
In an L-cab, the 7-litre engine makes a lower engine hump possible - meaning that the two crew seats are positioned lower in the cab, thereby affording their occupants improved road visibility.
9-litre
The DC09 is a straight 5-cylinder diesel engine equipped with Scania's XPI injection system with unit injectors and 4 valves per cylinder. It is fitted with a fixed geometry turbocharger, charge air cooler and Scania's SCR system.
These engines can run on HVO without any modifications being required.
Gas versions of this engine are available, rated to 280 and 340 hp. These use EGR technology for emissions control.
The exhaust brake is rated to 183 kW @ 2,400 rpm.
With power outputs of 280-360 hp, and torque outputs of 1,400-1,700 Nm, the 9-litre engine is suited to medium-duty (up to 40t) urban and regional operations.
13-litre
The DC13 is a straight 6-cylinder diesel engine equipped with Scania's XPI injection system with unit injectors and 4 valves per cylinder. It is fitted with a fixed geometry turbocharger, charge air cooler and Scania's SCR system.
These engines can run on HVO without any modifications being required.
A gas version of this engine is available, rated to 410 hp. This uses EGR technology for emissions control. (n.b. gas engine can only be fitted to G-/R-series cabs)
The exhaust brake is rated to 242 kW @ 2,400 rpm.
With power outputs of 370-500 hp, and torque outputs of 1,900-2,550 Nm, the 13-litre engine is suited to heavy-duty (40t and over) regional/national/international operations.
Find your power
Scania has the broadest range of powertrains on the market. The P-series CrewCab can be fitted with a 7-litre, 9-litre or 13-litre engine, thereby offering a wide range of power outputs - from 220-540 hp.

Gearbox alternatives
Our comprehensive gearbox range can be adapted to all types of transport. For improved drivability, our 8- and 12-speed gearboxes can be fitted with Scania Opticruise and Scania Retarder. Scania’s new Opticruise G33CM gearbox, available for the high-output 13-litre 500 hp engine.

- Range-splitter gearboxes
- Opticruise gearbox
8-speed
The virtue of this gearbox lies in its simplicity. Rugged and compact, there are no crawler ratios and the smooth, positive action makes gearchanging easy. Options include Scania Opticruise, Scania Retarder and a selection of power take-offs.
8+1-speed
This gearbox offers similar advantages, together with an extra crawler ratio. Based on a 4-speed box, plus a planetary section, its strength is more than a match for the high-torque output of any Scania inline engine. Options include Scania Retarder and a selection of power take-offs.
12-speed
This gearbox is built to tackle the most challenging terrain, making it the perfect choice for demanding long-haulage. Its closely stepped ratios combine light weight with ease of driving with exceptional operating economy.
12+2-speed
For applications that demand extra low-speed pulling power, this gearbox has two extra crawler ratios. Designed for optimised economy, it has proved highly successful for both long-distance and regional distribution, as well as heavy construction applications. The overdrive versions offer higher torque capacity, plus overdrive for low and economic cruising revs. Scania Opticruise and Scania Retarder, as well as a selection of power take-offs, are available for all range-splitter gearboxes.
Scania’s new Opticruise G33CM gearbox, available for the high-output 13-litre 500 and 540 hp engines, features improved and speedy gearshifting in combination with better fuel consumption and excellent comfort.
After six years of development and testing, we are introducing a gearbox with plenty of new technologies, such as variable oil volume, improved gear lubrication by oil spray function and a wider gear spread.
Thanks to significantly reduced internal losses, and thereby improved energy efficiency, the G33CM itself offers fuel savings of one percent. The weight has been reduced by 60 kg to be used for increased payload. Additionally, it provides higher uptime with an oil change interval of up to one million km. All this to ensure that your total operating economy is optimised.
Driveability
Better driveability is achieved with a wider gear ratio spread, which includes super crawler and overdrive, that match Scania’s low rev engine philosophy.
Reversing
Instead of a reversing gear, a planetary gear is used for reversing. This solution enables having eight gears for going in reverse at speeds up to 30 km/h. (This is useful when, for instance, tipper trucks need to reverse for long distances.)
Retarder
The retarder on the G33CM has also been updated and improved and can now deliver 4700 Nm torque at a propeller shaft speed below 600 rpm.
PTO
PTO - With the Scania Opticruise gearbox, a new PTO programme with nine different performance steps is introduced. Higher torque and gear ratio improves the overall performance of bodywork equipment. Lower noise levels and reduced fuel consumption is the result of higher gear ratio, which allows lower engine speeds.
The new Scania Opticruise gearbox G33CM is available for all V8 engines up to 660 hp as well as the high-output 13-litre 500 and 540 hp engines.
Rear axle gears
Scania’s rear axle range offers a robust and weight optimised design with a wide variety of gears and ratios, so you can find the optimal solution for your operation. All gears are offered with differential locks.
Single driven hub reduction
The single driven hub reduction axles are offered for the operations where startability, ground clearance and high gross train weights are favourable. They manage gross vehicle and train weights up to 80 tonnes with gear ratios from 3.80 up to 7.18.
Single driven single reduction
Our gears for single reduction have low complexity and high efficiency and can master gross vehicle and train weights up to 78 tonnes with a wide range of gear ratios from 2.35 up to 5.57.
TANDEM DRIVEN SINGLE REDUCTION
Tandem driven single reduction is offered for operations where you require traction together with optimal fuel efficiency. The RB662 + R660 tandem gear masters gross vehicle and train weights up to 80 tonnes with gear ratios from 2.92 up to 4.88.
Tandem driven single hub reduction
Our broad tandem driven hub reduction axles are robust and durable and offers great startability and ground clearance. It masters extremely high gross vehicles and train weights to up to 210 tonnes with gear ratios from 3.52 up to 7.63.
Improved up-shift performance
The lay shaft break improves up-shift performance by cutting the time required to change gear. The lay shaft breaks up-shift performance independent of the engine.
Reduced engagement time
A lay shaft break reduces PTO and reverse/crawler engagement time and boosts engagement comfort/robustness.
Responsive engine
One big benefit with the lay shaft break is that it makes it possible to keep the engine responsive.
