A new venture for seamless electric truck charging

Scania is not only building electric vehicles and engines; it is also working to remove the infrastructural barriers to electrification, to speed up adoption of a technology that is vital for sustainable transport. Last year, the company took established Erinion, a charging solutions company that plans to provide 40,000 new electric charging points at customer locations throughout Europe by 2030.

By focusing on providing depot and destination charging locations, Erinion aims for a dedicated charging infrastructure at the customer’s home depot or other pre-defined locations, to complement public charging networks. This will help address customers’ concerns over vehicle uptime and charging, so they can start electrifying their fleets.

Scania’s pilot programmes with customers show that these seamless and enhanced charging solutions can create potentially significant cost savings for customers of up to 50 percent, with operational savings of up to 15,000 Euros per truck each year.
