Scania further enhances its bus and coach service
02 August 2021
Scania (Great Britain) Limited and its independent dealers are to make significant investments in staff training and equipment over the coming two years in order to further uplift the levels of service provided to the organisation's bus and coach customers nationwide. A total of 20 strategically-located service centres from Scania's 84-strong UK dealer net will spearhead the drive to ensure operators receive specialised bus and coach aftersales care regardless of where they are located.
"While every one of our network points provides full service cover for every element of a vehicle's Scania chassis and drivetrain, the diversity and complexity of body types and the equipment fitted to them calls for additional skills and, in some cases, tooling," says Mark Grant, Services Director for Scania (Great Britain) Limited. "With service centres from each of our regions – Scotland, North, East, South West and South East – and every one of our independent dealers participating in the programme, operators can rest assured of receiving the best possible bus and coach service from the Scania organisation at all times and in all areas of the country.
"Staff training will form a key part of our enhanced service. As the range of powertrain technologies expands it is paramount that our Technicians are highly skilled to ensure our buses and coaches deliver the performance and uptime our customers rely on in order to deliver a great passenger-experience to the travelling public. The skills we are looking at here primarily relate to our bus and coach bodywork, and will ensure we can fully support this as our range of products grow on the back of the Scania Fencer f1 launch.
"In addition, we believe that assisting our customers to deliver the service levels the public demands will in turn help aide a strong recovery for the industry as we emerge from a most difficult year. By creating a 'network within a network', we believe we can meet our objectives efficiently and in a way which adds to customer-convenience by providing all services under a single roof."
"This investment is wholly in line with Scania's prime core value, Customer First," says Martin West, Sales Director – Bus, Coach and Power Solutions for Scania (Great Britain) Limited. "The bus and coach industry has endured incredibly tough times recently, and as we emerge from the pandemic we would like every operator to know that we are there for them wherever and whenever they need us. The enhancements we are making to our network reinforce that commitment and will enable us to deliver the service our customers depend on."
