Leisure Frontier Group First to Own the Scania New Bus Generation Double-Decker Coach in Singapore

Scania Singapore today handed over its first New Bus Generation in double-decker coach configuration to the Leisure Frontier Group. Mr Terence Ng, Managing Director of the Leisure Frontier Group, received the keys to the new coach from Mr Oscar Wyckman, Country Manager of Scania Singapore, at the Travel Malaysia 2024 Fair in Singapore.

The Group plans to deploy the new coach on the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur route, under its subsidiary Luxury Coach Service, targeting the premium coach transportation market.

“The Scania New Bus Generation has pushed the advancements in coach travel further, with an improved chassis and suspension to benefit our drivers and commuters with a smoother and more comfortable ride,” said Mr Ng. “We also like how the latest technology is incorporated with the digital dashboard and other features to increase safety, which is our topmost priority.”

The new Scania K410 double-decker coach, from the Scania New Bus Generation, delivers 6% more fuel economy over its previous generation. This is partly due to the fuel-saving Eco-roll function that reduces engine speed automatically for coasting in neutral gear, with no torque required.

It features a reinforced chassis construction along with standard safety features such as the Electronic Braking System, which continuously calculates and adjusts the brakes on all axles, the Anti-lock Braking System and Traction Control.

Passenger comfort and driver handling are both enhanced with the independent front suspension, and the more efficient gearbox capable of faster and smoother transmission. The redesigned driver area has further improved ergonomics, reachability, and visibility to provide the safest and most comfortable workstation for drivers.

In addition, the Scania Fleet Management System will help the Leisure Frontier Group gain insights on real time positioning, vehicle performance, environmental reporting, service planning and defect reporting and driver performance to plan for usage improvements.

“The New Bus Generation truly demonstrates how Scania’s innovation can continue to redefine fuel efficiency, driveability, safety and comfort,” said Mr Wyckman. “We continue to see more interest in how this generation’s buses and coaches can help fleet operators improve on their service offerings and their business profitability.”

The new coach is covered under a five-year Repair and Maintenance contract, to minimise downtime and provide better assurance that it will always be performing optimally on the road. With the purchase of the new coach, the Leisure Frontier Group automatically earns 4,500 Scania For Good Loyalty Points, which can be redeemed for Scania parts and workshop services to further enhance their business sustainability.

The Leisure Frontier Group is looking into acquiring more Scania K410 coaches from the New Bus Generation for its fleet renewal plan over the next two to three years.

With a fleet of 108 coaches of different sizes, the Leisure Frontier Group offers cross-border transportation, local tours, shuttle bus services, departure and arrival pick-ups, event transportation, and rental and chartering services. Its fleet now comprises more than 20 Scania coaches, including coaches under Luxury Coach Service, which the Group acquired in May 2023.
