From traditional trucks to software-driven innovation

”Every problem has a solution, me and my team just need to find the right one for each obstacle we encounter,” says Meera Aravind, Product Owner for simulation tests within autonomous trucks at Scania, Södertälje.
When she started at Scania software wasn’t as much of a priority as it is today. “Back then, Scania was more of a traditional truck company – but now software development is really the core of everything we do”, Meera continuous.
I’ve been at Scania for seven years now and I can’t think of myself working somewhere else right now. I feel at home here! Since day one I’ve felt that I have the chance to progress in my career and have full support of my managers and my team.
R&D is all about creating what the customers need and want – in the future. But making sure we do it the right way: prioritizing both the technical side of it as well as finding the right balance of the product before commercializing it.
Being a new area of expertise Scania needs to define what qualifies as a successful autonomous vehicle before launching it to the market – safety of course being a top priority. “There is no blue print to follow in this area, we need to define and execute what will be a top level product. I can’t imagine a more challenging and rewarding assignment. That’s why I truly love my work!” Meera finishes with a smile.
