23 May 2022

  • Scania will provide Swedish freight technology company Einride with 110 heavy duty electric trucks
  • This deal is the start of a collaborative product development partnership between the two companies
  • The fleet will be introduced throughout Europe during 2022 and into the first half of 2023

Södertälje, Sweden, 23 May 2022: Scania has taken its largest order of heavy-duty electric vehicles to date.

The 110 trucks form part of a new collaborative product development partnership with Swedish freight technology company Einride.

It will see the provider of end-to-end digital, electric and autonomous shipping solutions further expand their market presence, despite already having one of Europe’s largest heavy duty electric fleets.

Each truck will be built to Einride's hardware specifications and powered by their Saga operating system, which ensures electric transportation is efficient and optimised.

The data and insights generated from the fleet will be provided to Scania for continued product co-development. This collaboration marks the beginning of a new long-term partnership that will contribute to both Scania’s and Einride’s ambitions to scale up the use of electric road freight.

Ellen Kugelberg, Chief Product Officer for Einride, said: “We are looking forward to the beginning of this vital partnership as we expand across Europe.

“These 110 trucks will make a substantial contribution to increasing our fleet, while we will continue to join forces with renowned industry players such as Scania to drive innovation and product development in the global transport industry,”

Fredrik Allard, Head of E-Mobility at Scania, said: “We share the same vision of decarbonising heavy transport.

“It has been rewarding to work with Einride on joint new technical solutions and digital services that will sustainably advance our industry.”

The fleet of 110 Scania trucks will be delivered throughout Europe during 2022 and into the first half of 2023.
