Gas truck specifications
ALTERNATIVE FUEL SOURCES
The first thing to say is that both gases are methane and the source can be both biogas based on organic waste or natural gas, to be used in parallel, making any switch from one to the other a straightforward and easy transition. The key point is that gas has different energy densities in different states. One unit of liquid gas energy takes up 3 times less volume than one unit of compressed gas energy. Simply, this means liquefied gas is denser and you can, therefore, get more energy on a vehicle than with compressed gas.
COMPRESSED GAS APPLICATIONS
The fuel tanks are available in packs of 4x80L, 4x95L, 4x118L bottles or 2x152L + 2x118L bottles with a driving range up to 750 km. These fuel tanks also provide a better ground clearance than fuel tanks for liquefied gas.
LIQUEFIED GAS APPLICATIONS
The high energy density of liquefied gas makes it perfect for regional and long haulage applications. The fuel tanks are available in size from 400 – 1100 litres providing a driving range up to 1700 km.
MATCH IT RIGHT
Options are important, and we provide a lot of them. You can choose from a varity of cabs, powertrains and chassis specifications. With a gas engine range fully comparable to our diesel options – there’s always a no compromise gas engine specification designed to match your fleet’s operation.
You can choose from a power band from 280 to 410 hp depending on your operation.
9-LITRE ENGINE, 280 HP AND 340 HP
The Scania 5-cylinder Euro 6 gas engine range saves space and weight without compromising performance or operating economy. With this Otto engine, count on a smooth, low noise driving experience.
13-LITRE ENGINE, 410 HP
The Scania 6-cylinder Euro 6 gas engine range saves space and weight without compromising performance or operating economy. This Otto engine provides a smooth but powerful driving experience.
TOMORROW’S POWER TODAY
In cramped conditions, it may be difficult to see obstacles and vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists around the vehicle, in particular close to the corner of the vehicle on the passenger side.
The optional city safe window low down on the passenger door improves the chance of detecting children, pedestrians and cyclists near the truck. Furthermore, features such as the driver seat positioning, lowered side window and larger glass surface, offer even greater visibility.
ACTIVE PREDICTION WITH ECO ROLL
Urban driving involves many starts and stops, repeated climbing in and out of the cab, and the constant need to keep track of other vehicles and pedestrians around the truck while driving. This may be both stressful and challenging.
Get the right gearbox
Working long hours like your drivers do, they might need to bring additional equipment, both personal and work-related. Either way, our cabs are equipped with smart storage facilities enabling them to stock up without the cab feeling cramped.
The 7-litre engine compact format makes the engine tunnel a whole 95 mm lower than in a regular P-cab. This design improves cross-cab access and creating a more spacious interior feel. It is a great choice when operating in dense traffic and need exit through the passenger door.
SCANIA OPTICRUISE
Scania Opticruise is one of the smoothest and smartest systems on the market.
For operations requiring extra control for specific manoeuvring, we have an additional performance step, Clutch on Demand. The addition of a clutch pedal provides convenience in special conditions; otherwise the system works as an ordinary automatic clutch system.
Scania Opticruise general features
- Driver interface with all functions for gear changing and retarder control integrated in the right-hand steering wheel lever.
- Adaptive shift strategy based on style of driving, load, and inclination of the road.
- Comprehensive electronic protection keeps clutch wear to a minimum.
- Several parameters can be adjusted by a Scania workshop to tailor the functionality to fit your specific needs.
