Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
SDG 12 – Responsible consumption and production
Smart transport systems go hand in hand with sustainable consumption and production. Moving from logistic systems filled with waste to smart, connected and sustainable logistics.
Scania’s reach extends to logistics expertise for the benefit of our customers and their customers. HAVI logistics, a global lead logistics provider for the food industry, is using Scania trucks and solutions in transport operations to and from McDonald’s restaurants in several European countries. By re-thinking their transport set-up, industries can realise efficiencies with significant benefits with regard to revenue, cost, efficiency and environmental impact.
HAVI has done night-time deliveries in Stockholm since 2019, resulting in lower emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and particulate matter. A plug-in-hybrid truck (PHEV) runs HAVI’s regular operations in Stockholm and its suburbs and this truck also participates in a project about smart urban traffic zones, where the city of Stockholm creates an IoT platform to try dynamic geofencing, with sensors at Hornsgatan, one of the capital’s heavily trafficked streets, telling drivers to drive more slowly.
In Spain and Havi runs gas-fuelled vehicles to deliver products to McDonald’s restaurants in Madrid and Barcelona. Equipped with low-noise engine and cooling equipment, the trucks are also much quieter than conventional delivery vehicles, helping to further reduce the impact of urban deliveries.
