Barilla switches to Scania liquefied gas trucks for food distribution
20 DECEMBER 2019
The world leader in pasta, Barilla, produces more than 1.9 million tonnes of food per year at its 28 production sites. Now the company will use 50 Scania liquefied gas trucks for its distribution in Italy.
The Scania R 410 trucks will be operated by Sicily-based Nicolosi Trasporti between Barilla’s 650 delivery and distribution points throughout Italy.
Liquefied gas reflects low-emission strategy
“The Barilla Group’s strategy is focused on reducing emissions and this characterises all new logistics projects,” says Logistics Director Riccardo Stabellini, Group Supply Chain.
“We will continue to monitor all the technological innovations in the field of transport that allow us to achieve this objective.”
Italy has embraced this fuel technology. There are more than 50 liquefied gas filling stations, the largest number in Europe.
