In focus: sustainable solutions for buses and coaches
With a new chassis variant that features the recently launched e-machine and charging options, plus new rear axle options, Scania provides bus operators with a compelling alternative for electrifying transport operations beyond purely urban applications.
Scania’s new e-machine is fully adapted to the company’s complete battery-electric bus platform. Four power options are now available, and an integrated two- or four-speed gearbox, offering an impressive combination of increased performance and efficiency, flexibility and zero emissions. A further battery option has been added, and a charging interface at the rear of the bus will quicken power uptake.
Transport operator Vy Buss and their long-distance bus operations Vy bus4you aims to provide a stress-free start and end to your journey, with long-distance coach travel offering premium comfort without compromise. Scania Irizar coach built on Scania’s newest liquefied gas platform, which can run on both biogas and natural gas, or a combination of the two – and capable of the full 700 km return trip without refuelling, with plenty left in the tank.
Scania is delighted to receive the Sustainable Bus Award 2025 in the coach category for the Scania Touring LBG/LNG, recognising its commitment to setting new standards in sustainable transport and pioneering a greener future in people mobility.
Scania is renowned for its wide range of low-carbon powertrain options and now continues along that path by adding an LBG/LNG variant of the Scania Touring. Able to run on both natural gas and biogas, or a mix of the two, it allows a smooth transition to biogas, creating a circular and economically viable solution for sustainable long-distance transport today.
With the introduction of low-entry 4x2 buses, the sustainably sourced and built batteries offer a vast energy storage capacity of up to 520 kWh and have been developed specifically for heavy commercial vehicles, enabling a range in optimal conditions of over 500 km.
