planting mangroves for climate day 2024

26 April 2024 : Scania Middle East fulfilled Scania's Climate Day activities with not just a discussion on technology-based solutions, but also following-thru with nature-based solution by planting mangroves at Jubail Island Mangroves Park in Abu Dhabi 🌱

 

After the classroom discussion and quizzes following Scania's Climate Day program, the team drove to the mangroves ecosystem in Abu Dhabi at Jubail island to plant grey mangroves (Avicennia). This is the dominant species of mangrove, adapted to live in inhospitable environments such as the climate of the gulf.


Climate Day is an important awareness activity at Scania where we all can learn more about sustainability and get time together to reflect on how we can contribute to creating a more sustainable world for our business, for the society and environment.

 

We have made it our purpose to 'Drive the Shift towards a sustainable transport system', which is decarbonized and sustainable for the people creating and using it. This is what we promise the current and future generations. We are aware that we are part of the problem, but we also want to be leading the solution.
